Mission & Vision

Camp Engies is a not-for-profit, volunteer-led camp, created by women in engineering for our future women in engineering.

Our Mission

Inspire young women to connect and unleash their potential in Engineering.

Our Vision

Camp Engies hopes to increase the percentage of women in engineering in Canada by:

  • Educating campers in a unique atmosphere for a highly subsidized fee.

  • Providing an environment free of gender bias to engage with various engineering role-models and in engineering activities.

  • Introducing our campers to life-long engineering mentors and allies.

Despite genuine efforts and programs over the past 15 years, the percentage of women in Engineering Undergraduate Programs in Canada is climbing at a snail pace (Figure 1). Our aim is introduce and promote engineering to our girls to ultimately, increase the percentage of women in engineering. Thirty per cent is recognized as the tipping point for sustainable change!

In addition to our team of volunteers, Camp Engies invites influential female engineering speakers from academics and industry to share their stories with campers. Learn more about the speakers that have presented at our camp.

Cassondra Fonseca, P.Eng.

Tea Plantation

Although a variety of amazing women-in-engineering programs currently exist, Cassondra started Camp Engies to pique girl’s interest in engineering at an earlier age within a unique, focused atmosphere. She believed that by targeting girls in grades five through eight and introducing them to phenomenal women in engineering she could increase the percentage of women in engineering!

"Camp Engineering Inc. is a Not-For-Profit organization and is 100% volunteer powered. It took a special group of women, especially working engineers, to help me turn my dream into a reality. My vision and passion for this event turned into a shared vision; I hope your daughters associate engineering with everyday life, fun and and  are inspired by amazing role models! Feel free to contact me at president@campengies.com!"
